ADP Integration

Sync employees and export time data to ADP Workforce Now.

Overview

The ADP integration connects SimpleStaff with ADP Workforce Now to:

Import Employees

Automatically sync employee data from ADP

Export Time Data

Send scheduled hours to ADP for payroll

Sync Terminations

Auto-deactivate terminated employees

Two-Way Sync

Keep both systems in sync automatically

Pro/Enterprise: ADP integration is available on Pro and Enterprise plans.

Setting Up the Integration

Enable API Access in ADP

Contact your ADP representative to enable API access for your account.

Go to Integrations in SimpleStaff

Navigate to Settings → Integrations → ADP.

Click "Connect with ADP"

You'll be redirected to ADP to authorize the connection.

Authorize SimpleStaff

Log in to ADP and grant SimpleStaff permission to access your employee data.

Configure Sync Settings

Choose which data to sync and how often.

Run Initial Sync

Click "Sync Now" to import employees from ADP.

Exporting Time to ADP

Send scheduled hours to ADP for payroll processing:

  1. 1.Go to Settings → Integrations → ADP
  2. 2.Enable "Export Time Data"
  3. 3.Choose export frequency: Manual, Weekly, or After each pay period
  4. 4.Map SimpleStaff positions to ADP pay codes

Note: Time exports include scheduled hours. If you use time tracking, actual clock-in/out data is exported instead.

Troubleshooting

"Unable to connect" error
  • Verify API access is enabled in your ADP account
  • Check that you're logging in as an ADP administrator
  • Try clearing browser cookies and reconnecting
  • Contact ADP support if the issue persists
Missing employees after sync
  • Employees must have a work email address in ADP
  • Check that employees are marked as Active in ADP
  • Verify the sync filter settings aren't excluding them
Time export shows $0 hours
  • Ensure schedules are published for the export period
  • Verify pay code mappings are set up correctly
  • Check that employees have their ADP ID linked
