Performance Metrics Overview

SimpleStaff tracks scheduling-related metrics that help you understand employee reliability and engagement. These insights help with scheduling decisions and identifying patterns.

Note: Performance tracking focuses on scheduling metrics like attendance and punctuality. For comprehensive performance reviews, integrate with your HR system.

Key Metrics Tracked

Attendance Rate

Percentage of scheduled shifts worked vs. missed (excluding approved time-off).

Formula: (Shifts Worked / Total Scheduled) × 100

Punctuality Score

Tracks late arrivals and early departures when time tracking is enabled.

Factors: On-time arrivals, late frequency, average late minutes

Shift Swap Patterns

How often an employee initiates swaps, picks up extra shifts, or drops shifts.

Schedule Adherence

How closely actual worked hours match scheduled hours.

Availability Reliability

How often their submitted availability matches actual availability when scheduled.

Go to an employee's profile → Performance tab to see their metrics and trends.

Using Performance in Scheduling

Performance data can optionally influence scheduling decisions:

AI Scheduling Consideration

When enabled, AI scheduling can prioritize reliable employees for critical shifts.

Preferred Shift Assignment

High performers can be given priority for preferred shifts (similar to seniority).

Visual Indicators

See performance indicators when manually assigning shifts.

Note: Using performance metrics in scheduling is optional and should align with your company policies and any applicable regulations.

Configuring Time Periods

Choose how performance is calculated:

Rolling 30 days: Most recent month of data
Rolling 90 days: Most recent quarter
Year to date: Since January 1st
All time: Since employee start date

Privacy Settings

Control who can see performance data:

Managers: Can view their direct reports' performance

Employees: Can optionally view their own metrics (configurable)

Comparisons: Team comparisons can be hidden or anonymized
